As a kid, I enjoyed Lego and would regularly build houses and castles with the pieces that I had. Eventually, I went off to college and forgot all about building with Lego. It wasn’t until nearly 15 years later that I rediscovered my love of building. For the past 10 years I found joy in building the various sets that came out. At first, focusing on Harry Potter sets and then branching out into other sets like the botanical and other buildings.

In 2023, I heard about a Lego User Group (LUG) based in Ohio and attended a meeting. I was quickly drawn in with the desire to learn about building “My Own Creations” (MOC) and helping with group builds. I was very impressed with the skill and detail that every member brought to the group displays. The group was friendly and helpful and soon I was making plans to create my own builds. The first one I did was an expanded Muppet Theater based on the Andrea’s Theater set. I created a backstage area and used my Muppet minifigures to create little scenes.

Then I created a model of the Franklin Park Conservatory located here in Columbus, Ohio. It was a very challenging building and was quite the engineering feat. This was for our LUG display at the Columbus Museum of Art. What a thrill to get it completed and on display at an art museum! I also displayed the Muppet Theater there.

I’m going to continue my involvement with the LUG and hope to add more photos of MOC’s here.
